What the index measures
The PlanIntel Subscription Price Index tracks the weighted average monthly cost of a basket of subscription services across our 8 tracked EU and UK markets. The basket is denominated in EUR using ECB reference rates at each observation date.
For Q2 2026, the basket includes Netflix Standard, Spotify Individual, ChatGPT Plus, Audible Premium Plus, Crunchyroll Fan, and Paramount+ Standard.

What drove the increases
Streaming (+3.6%): Netflix led with pan-European Standard plan increases in March 2026 — Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands all moved from €13.49 to €13.99 for Standard, and Premium rose more steeply in some markets.
AI services (+6.0%): ChatGPT Plus repriced at Apple App Store EUR tiers in May 2026, moving from €21.99 to €22.99 across five European markets simultaneously. This is the most significant AI service repricing since OpenAI launched ChatGPT Plus in Europe.
Music (flat): Spotify held prices steady across all 8 markets in Q2 2026. No Family or Duo plan changes were recorded.
Audiobook (flat): Audible Premium Plus prices were unchanged in Q2.
Anime (+4.3%): Crunchyroll Fan plan rose by €0.30/month in Germany and the Netherlands, consistent with a quiet repricing that was not widely announced.
Market spotlight: Poland
Poland saw the largest absolute basket increase in PLN terms at +8.1% QoQ. The PLN weakened against EUR through Q2 2026, and EUR-billed services (ChatGPT Plus, Crunchyroll) push higher in PLN when the exchange rate moves. Local-currency-priced services (Spotify PLN) were unchanged.
What the index does not measure
The index covers our 6-service basket only. Services outside the basket — Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Max, YouTube Premium — are tracked individually on their market pages but are not yet in the basket weight calculation.
